Solid Steel (25 APR 2008)

This week Ghislain Poirier graces us with his presence once again. Music on offer from The 45 King, Supa Dups, Razor X, Mr. Oizo, Hudson Mohawke and more of the most sublime shizz to get your weekend pleasure.

Into hour two and we take another dip into the vaults. DK this time from 2000, this show became one half of a promo mix CD, given away while on a North American tour with Coldcut (the unnofficial first Solid Steel mix CD). Among the usual DK mix of old and new, are Yush 2K "Fade Away" (which made the short list for "Now listen"), The Orb "Little Fluffy Clouds" given an excellent remix by Danny Tenaglia, Big Dada Allstars with their Planet Rock homage "Showtime" and Little Richard on the breaks and beats. Nice!

Spring? DJ Cheeba hauls a massive pile of records into the studio and sets up camp. Resident at the Bristol Solid Steel night and runner up for last year's guest mix of the year this selection will have you reaching for the playlist feature in the Solid Steel website. So much music on offer it makes me feel a bit sick. Tone Loc, Jurassic 5, Squarepusher, Duran Duran and so many more family favourites!

In the guest spot we welcome Z Trip. King of the mash up, seriously hard working DJ and not bad at the job either. Music 'pon the plates from King Mesh, Bladerunners and some Z Trip hard drive exploration.

Took my camera to work today...

the day starts and ends with Eddie the dog. In between we have breakfast at Anthony's, Henry shows up with newly tattooed arm and some work gets done.

My "Caveman on Campus" cover star, Dan, is stalked by paparazzi, carries ladders and gets the homeowner to do his job! On the plus side, Dan inadvertently comes up with the title to the next mix in the Van Bowlski series while trying to insult his brother.

There are April fools!
