solid steel (03 APR 2009)
Solid Steel in association with Serato (3rd April)
First up is Self Help from Cleveland Ohio, with his Ritalin Bounce mix highlighting his eclectic style of party rocking and production. It's a hyperactive, multigenre megamixdub, often layering at least 2 or 3 different samples onto any given track.
The Qemists follow with their mix for Radio 1, showcasing tracks from their debut album 'Join the Q'. Dem Na Like Me, S.W.A.G. and their latest single On The Run, alongside their remix work for The Count and Sinden, Coldcut and Inner Party System.
DJ Moneyshot takes over the second hour with a special mix recreating an old Tommy Vance show on Capital radio from 1977 featuring Johny Rotten. Taking bits of the interview (plus adverts from the time) from cassette recordings and adding the tracks selected by Johny Rotten, we hear music from Augustus Pablo, Captain Beefheart, Bobby Byrd and Can giving us an insight to the direction he went on to take with PIL
