Solid Steel - Sept. 09

Solid Steel in association with Serato (9th September).

J Mountain returns to Solid Steel after a lengthy hiatus lost in the musical ether in the search for the missing genre. This mix is inspired by a recent early hours DJ set at a Northern warehouse party. It features re-edits on Linda Lewis, Letta Mbulu, The Human League and more alongside new music from Brawther, Christophe via Julio Bashmore, Ben Westbeech via The Revenge, the lush 'Gabriel' by Joe Goddard and more of the finest beat broadness!

In hour 2, it's a mix from DC Recordings artist Arcadion. With a new album called 'More Petrol' out next week, we get a taste of the music that had an influence in making the album, with the go go sounds of Mac Attack, Trouble Funk and Slim playing an important part, as well as P Funk from Parliament and Roger Troutman. We also here music from Frank Zappa, Buddy Miles and Prince Buster, plus 90's jungle from Jason Mouse and Invisible Man, as well as tracks from Arcadion himself and his alter ego Hungry Ghost.

solid steel (13 MAR 2009)

Solid Steel in association with Serato (13th March)

J Mountain returns with an electronic musical journey taking in hiphop from the left-hand side care of Floating Points, minimal techno from Tokyo Black Star, funky heat from Donaeo and dance-floor disco from Moodymann. We get a look a new direction for dubstep with offerings from Martyn & Ramanadaman and a we look a head to a couple of the soon to be summer "big ones" with Toddla T & Herve and Jack Penate. All rounded off with the biggest thing on sound systems right now Skream's remix of La Roux.

Ooft return for Hour 2 kicking off with strings aplenty from Karizma and Bottom Fly, their very own crafty edits of Michael McDonald, Madonna and Toto and going deep with Henrik Schwarz, Redshape and Ron Trent.
