It's a carnival warm up this week with DK setting the stage with new music from Chrissy Murderbot, Toddla T and The Bug, reggae selections from Prince Jammy, Turbo Belly and Barrington Levy, passing jungle soundsystems with DJ C and Tribe of Issachar and ending up at Norman Jay with The Flirtations.

Coldcut continue with the sweet vocals of Gregory Isaacs, then it's two from Roska, more Toddla T and Dekoy remixed by Pirate Soundsystem. Soca rhythms from Scrappy keep us on the move and Wiley drops in for two cuts, before we take a break with classic U-Roy, with Bunny Lee on production.



PC makes a special return to the show to continue the carnival atmosphere with two Jamaican cuts riding the Agony Riddim from Super Cat and King Kong. Then it's closer to home with DJ Vadim featuring Demolition Man and Roots Manuva with Bashment Boogie, followed by Solid Steel staple 'one Blood' by Junior Reid, classic jungle from Conquering Lion and ending with 'Walk and Skank' by Jah Screechy.

Our guest mix this week comes from Kiki Hitomi, a member of King Midas Sound on Hyperdub records alongside Kevin Martin (The Bug) and Roger Robinson. We hear their trademark sounds alongside music from The Kills remixed by The Bug, Bjork and Clause Four, plus we hear Kiki Hitomi revoicing tracks by Zomby, Mark Pritchard and Evian Christ as well.

DK eases us into the show with the sublime Banks remix for Andreya Triana, the Tipper remix for Pressure Drop from 97 and new music from Dave Aju. The beats get heavy with Mux Mool, Arcadion and the classic 'Holy Ghost' from The Barkays. Then it's music from new Ninja Tune signing Hot Sugar, Dean Blunt feat Inga Copeland and Radioactive Man, before stepping up the pace with a full on club selection from Sleepin Giantz, Kalbata, Kodiak and Pearson Sound, and we ease back down again with a track from the Yppah album.



Our guests in hour 2 need no introduction. Amorphous Androgynous, also known as Future Sound of London, drop an EXCLUSIVE mix for Solid Steel to mark the release of their epic 17 min remix for the DJ Food EP - The Illectrik Hoax. As expected, it's a psychedelic journey through music from Link Wray, Pink Floyd and their own amazing rework of Gil Scott Heron, plus Ian Kneel, their collaboration with Noel Gallagher and ending with just one part of the DJ Food remix.

PC steps up with soulful house from Elekstrons, Martyn featuring Spaceape and some West London bizness from Seiji and Afronaught, plus outer jazz from Flanger and a stone cold classic from Lonnie Liston Smith.

Solid Steel (04 DEC 2008)

This week (5th December) Hexstatic don the DJ jacket and serve up a retrospective mix for their album release "Video's, Remixes, Rarities" tracks off the racks include Bass Invader, Timber, Distorted Minds and more bangers!

Into hour 2 for our last dip into the Solid Steel vaults, we turn back to September 2001 with DJ Food & DK. Following the release of their critically acclaimed mix CD "Now listen" earlier that year, listeners got to hear the "Directors Cut" mix which featured some early ideas for the CD, along with tracks that didn't make the final version. Jeru, Cinematic Orchestra and Herbie Hancock are all in there from the CD, but licensing issues meant that Lorez Alexandria, Vangelis and Pharoah Monch missed the boat.
