KMT cameo @ Being Gordy.

here’s a scan of a just inked panel from my buddy’s forthcoming graphic novel, Being Gordy.  this is my cameo appearance of King Megatrip ordering a “Jimmy Carter” shake in the booth behind the main characters!

garage band.

a fantastic graphic novel my pal Gorde lent me... Gipi's "Garage Band"... nice tight interesting story about 4 guys, their backgrounds and the garage... beautiful watercolor art...

amazon's description ('cause they can form full sentences over there, unlike myself): "In a wash of melancholy watercolors and with a sense of inescapable anxiety in the line work, Italian writer-artist Gipi tells the story of four very different boys who want to make music. As they meet in the garage that nervous Giuliano's father has let them use, clashes occur, all finely rendered in simple sweeps of story and dialogue. When troublemaker Stefano gets them an honest-to-goodness opportunity with a record label, the group attempts an ill-advised theft of musical equipment, driving the story to a tense but ultimately hopeful end. Somber throughout, with powerful use of well-placed silent panels, the art is both unusual and evocative. The characters, often less than admirable as individuals, come together believably to display loyalty to one another and real joy in their music. With a strong indie sensibility, this book is a good choice for readers interested in edgy art and human drama."

thanks again to Dave "Gorde" who does his own "Being Gordy" comic work... check him out here.

chateau gordy!

well here's something that I've been meaning to write about for a few days... an unexpected holiday gift from cartoonist and all-around nice guy, Dave Gordon! my very own bottle of "Chateau Gordy"!!

I know Dave from our mutual stomping-ground, Bedrock Comics over in Framingham... Dave and his co-writer, Mark Derwin are working on their first graphic novel, "Being Gordy". Good humor and some nice clean art...

"If you enjoy strong sitcom humor and a good solid laugh, please check out our sample previews here, as well as at our main site — www.BeingGordy.com"

what's it about?

"His entire life, Gordy has said to himself one thing - “All I want to be is a syndicated comic strip cartoonist.” Now in his late thirties, he struggles to move beyond a dream not yet realized. With his two best friends, Mark and Paige, by his side, Gordy tries to make some sense of his place in the world. As the saying goes, “sometimes you have to get lost before you find yourself.” Wackiness ensues."

check it out - and thanks for the wine Dave! I love the small print on the back... "beware of people who support Sarah Palin because she's "cute."
